The short answer

The short answerGST registration has no government fee. The only cost is the professional fee, which starts from ₹1,999 plus 18% GST on our fee, for the applicability check, the REG-01 application, document review, every query reply and the certificate. A company or LLP also needs a valid digital signature for the authorised signatory. All-in, that is ₹2,359 to ₹11,799 across our plans, with government fees included where they apply.

What does GST Registration cost, line by line?

Our fee and GST are the whole cost unless the government fee row says otherwise.

What changes the cost?

  1. Your entity type

A proprietor signs with an Aadhaar OTP. A company or LLP needs a Class 3 digital signature for the authorised signatory, added at cost if you do not have one.

  2. The plan you choose

Starter is registration only. Growth adds three months of return filing and invoice set-up. Complete covers a full year of filing with input credit reconciliation.

  3. Officer queries

A REG-03 notice needs a reply within seven working days. Our fee covers replies until the GSTIN arrives; cheap offers charge per reply.

  4. Physical verification

If the officer orders a site visit, approval can take up to 30 days. There is no extra government fee, but a rejected address proof costs a fresh application.

  5. Multiple states

GST registration is per state. Selling from warehouses in two states needs two registrations, each priced separately.

What is not included

  • Monthly GST return filing after the registration, unless you choose Growth or Complete
  • A digital signature for the authorised signatory, added at cost for companies and LLPs
  • Late fees or tax on past sales if you register after crossing the threshold
  • Additional registrations in other states or for additional places of business

Questions founders ask about GST Registration cost

Is there any government fee for GST registration?

No. Registration on the GST portal is free. What you pay is a professional fee for preparing the application correctly, and for a company or LLP the cost of a digital signature if the signatory does not have one. Anyone charging a government fee for GST registration is adding a line that does not exist.

Why pay a fee at all if the portal is free?

Because most rejections come from the address proof and the business description, and a rejection means a fresh application and another week. Our fee covers the applicability check, the right documents in the right format, the reply to any officer query and the certificate, with one tax expert accountable for the file.

Is GST charged on the registration fee?

Yes, 18% on our professional fee, shown as a separate line. Once your GSTIN is active you can claim that GST as input credit in your first GSTR-3B, so the net cost of registration is the base fee.

What does the composition scheme cost compared with regular GST?

The registration fee is the same. The difference is afterwards: composition dealers pay 1% (traders and manufacturers), 5% (restaurants) or 6% (services) on turnover with a quarterly return, but cannot claim input credit or sell inter-state. We compare the two on the first call.

What does it cost to file GST returns after registration?

Our GST filing plans start from ₹749 per month for nil or low-volume filers, covering GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, reminders and challans. Growth and Complete add GSTR-2B reconciliation, GSTR-9 and notice replies. Late fees, if any, are paid to the government at cost.

What does it cost if I register late?

Nothing extra for the registration itself, but GST becomes payable on sales from the day you were liable, and returns for those periods carry late fees of ₹50 per day (₹20 for nil returns) and 18% interest on late tax. Registering the month you cross the threshold avoids all of it.
